If 2.Rxd8 then Black has the beautiful move 2...Be7!!, threatening 3...Qxh2#. Therefore, 3. h3 is forced. Black then has the nice rejoiner 3...Bd6!, again threatening 4...Qh2#. White is forced to give up the queen with 4.Qxd6 and Black won the ending easily.
